As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. We only look at the past three seasons for a player and do our best to give you a quick cheatsheet breakdown. We are only focusing on the potentially fantasy-relevant wide receivers in standard scoring and PPR leagues. If you insist on the very best at WR and are in a league that gives bonuses for player age, this Julio Jones player profile is for you.

Overview:
Julio Jones has been one of the consistent great wide receivers in this league over the last six years. However, he’s now 31-years-old and is creeping towards the age of decline for wide receivers. He showed no signs of slowing down last year, turning in one of his most efficient seasons from an air yards conversion perspective. The Falcons offense as a whole went into the gutter last season and had Jones played 16 games, he would have passed 1,400 yards for the sixth-straight season. He’s a beast, and one of the best wide receivers in the league.

Julio Jones is easily the hardest player profile for me to write. “Oh, Evan,” they cry, “make new jokes about this player that you’ve had to write new jokes about every year for 10 years.” “Find a novel angle about this player that has been even more consistent than Peyton Manning’s playing a mentally ill person to sell insurance.”
Fine! You want a new fact: Julio Jones shares a birthday with me, February 8th. Except I’m 11 years older than him. So know, dear reader, that as I break down the cons of Jones rapidly approaching the age when a top-5 fantasy finish is rarer than finding a charcoal briquette that’s been compressed into a diamond at a tailgate cookout, I die a little inside. Haha ha, so funny, I’m a sad little clown.
Don’t overthink Julio Jones. He’s one of the best wide receivers in the game and is well-worth going off the board at the first-round turn. Don’t take him before Michael Thomas, and you’re arguably fine wherever you end up drafting him.
Best Case Scenario:
Jones does what he always does: Finishes as a high-end WR1. This season, he’s a bit cheaper than usual, too: An early second-round pick or under $50 might be enough for you to have an elite receiver.
Worst Case Scenario:
Despite being in the same offense for years, an offense which now has an improved line, Jones fails to deliver because his age has hit some number with magical properties. I’m hoping my sarcasm says it all.
