2020 Teddy Bridgewater Fantasy Football Player Profile

Teddy Bridgewater sleeper quarterbacks

As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. We only look at the past three seasons for a player. Teddy Bridgewater completed his long road back from his insane knee injury that happened prior to the 2016 season. If you do not remember, Teddy Bridgewater’s lower leg basically detached from his upper leg, and he missed all of 2016 and the vast majority of 2017. Is he worth a look in 2020 now that he’s made it all the way back to being a starting quarterback in the NFL?

Teddy Bridgewater Overview:

After his knee injury, Teddy Bridgewater signed with New Orleans to learn from Drew Brees for a couple of seasons. He had a chance to start a handful of games with Drew Brees’ hand injury last season, filling in admirably and in typical Teddy Bridgewater fashion (efficient, cautious, and without explosive deep shots). If you take his five starts and pro-rate them over the course of an entire season, you get 3,856 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He did all this while barely throwing the ball downfield (7.3 yards per attempt).

Now, Teddy Bridgewater is in Carolina with Joe Brady, and some amazing toys around him that can take a little and do a lot. Very few quarterbacks can move on from throwing the football to Alvin Kamara and say they unequivocally upgraded at the position since he now has Christian McCaffrey. He also has an LSU system instituted by Brady that maximized Joe Burrow’s talents last year. This setup is the culmination of a great story for Teddy Bridgewater, and as a football fan, I’m excited for him in Carolina this year.

Teddy Bridgewater Draft Strategy:

Draft Ranking: Find out for your league settings in a Beersheet! (coming late June)

Unfortunately for Teddy Two-Gloves in 1QB leagues, there are just too many quality quarterbacks with a higher upside than Bridgewater this season. He could fully utilize the talent around him and get floated to a top-fifteen finish with some weekly upside depending on matchups, but he doesn’t really have draftable value outside of 2QB leagues, but anyone with a QB designation is worth a look in those formats.

Best Case Scenario:

Joe Brady unleashes his quarterback whispering on Bridgewater and Bridgewater brings some good juju from his time in New Orleans and he turns in a 4,000 yard, 30 touchdown season. And by quarterback whispering and good juju, I mean dumping off to Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore and letting them do the hard work.

Worst Case Scenario:

Teddy Bridgewater literally had his leg separate while he was just moving it, and I can’t think of a worse worst-case scenario. I am going to punt on this because I can’t put any bad thoughts into the atmosphere for Two Gloves, even as a joke.
