This is because anyone who is looking at data from 2016 to figure out what to do in 2020 had better be trying to figure out how to fix Stranger Things. DeVante Parker Overview:
After four seasons of getting the promised DeVante Parker breakout season that never came, the wideout finally obliged by kicking the door in on the league and announcing his presence. He had nearly as many air yards in 2019 as he did in 2017 and 2018 combined, so his 1,200+ yard season is unsurprising. Parker also upped his yards per target by nearly two yards-per-catch. He caught a lower percentage of his passes, but his average pass went an extra yard down the field, so it evened out for him. His 21% market share even has room to grow in 2020, as that is exceptionally low for a team’s solidified #1 wide receiver.
Parker had a monstrous end to the season to propel him to end the year as the #7 wide receiver. This offseason, the Dolphins drafted a quarterback, but Tua Tagovailoa might already be close to being to NFL ready, even without the preseason. You know what, I’m rereading that last sentence and thinking “what? A rookie QB is NFL ready without a preseason? Evan, calm down you’re making up complete lies to justify your love for DeVante Parker.” DeVante Parker has a high potential, but also some risks. That hurt to type.

DeVante Parker is going anywhere between rounds 4-7. In the fourth round, there are still viable RB2s like Le’Veon Bell and Leonard Fournette available. Those will do much more for your team than the readily-interchangeable set of WR2s who tend to fall several rounds later. Wait until the 5th round (or, at auction, wait until a WR2 goes for 50% or less of their advertised price) and then see if DVP is the best player available. I’m inventing all kinds of AT (Acronyms Today)!
Revisiting that auction tip, Parker heads up a dozen or so WRs ranked 18th-30th, one of who always falls for less than half of their recommended value. So when you see me professing my love for Parker followed by a ridiculously low recommended auction value, don’t sue me for whiplash. I probably should have put this warning in a few paragraphs ago.
Best Case Scenario:
You get Parker late and he flips out again, probably in the last half of the season when it matters most. Also, there’s world peace.
Worst Case Scenario:
You reach for Parker and he struggles all year to get on the same page as Tua. All nations engage in nuclear warfare.
