As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. D’Andre Swift was one of the most dynamic running backs in college football last year. Should you add the new Detroit Lion to your fantasy football squads?

D’Andre Swift Statistics:
According to Business Insider, Swift is the highest-paid celebrity. Whoops, nope. That’s Taylor Swift. According to Bulbapedia, he’s a Normal Type move with 100% accuracy that is not affected by accuracy modifiers. Nope, wait. Sorry, that’s the Pokémon attack, Swift. Huh, turns out he’s a rookie so he has no NFL statistics. Sorry about that!
D’Andre Swift Overview:
If you watch any number of plays from Swift at Georgia, it’s pretty easy to see why he was considered the best running back in this class by many, and second-best, at worst, by all. He’s decisive and instinctive, and he’s extremely efficient mentally and physically. His change of direction is elite, and his feet are amazing. Injuries can be a concern but his talent is undoubted. Swift is a plug-and-play do-it-all starting running back in the NFL.
Well, except there’s the pesky Kerryon Johnson problem. Johnson stands between Swift and fantasy football glory. Luckily for those that invest in D’Andre Swift, it’s a question of when not if, he snatches the reins from Kerryon entirely. The only downside for Swift was the Detroit reticence to run the football; they ranked in the bottom half of the league in rushing yards and middle-of-the-pack in rush attempts. In all fairness, they stunk last year and had to run guys like Bo Scarbrough and Wes Hills out at running back, at times. I would throw the ball more, too. Even if I had to have David Blough do it.
D’Andre Swift Draft Strategy:

Get D’Andre Swift. That’s it, that’s the advice. Draft-and-stash Swift until he takes the job (likely) or it becomes evident that he isn’t cut out for the NFL yet (unlikely). He’s going as a third running back, though for a well-drafted squad, he’s better suited as your fourth running back. It’s a shallow bit of advice because sometimes the best answer is the simplest.
Get D’Andre Swift.
Best Case Scenario:
Matt Patricia gives Kerryon Johnson one final chance to prove his case to him, and he gets 50%+ of the running back snaps for as long as he can, which is apparently five games. D’Andre Swift is an RB1 from week six to the end of the season.
Worst Case Scenario:
Kerryon Johnson inserts a microphone into Matt Patricia’s pencil and convinces him that it’s the voice of God talking to him. Johnson uses this technology to keep Swift benched all season, lest Patricia feels His wrath.
