T.Y. Hilton Overview:
T.Y. Hilton got injured a lot last year. Also, his QB was a sleeper agent from the New England Patriots trained to have a completely lame season as soon as he joined one of the Patriots’ rivals. Not wanting to repeat that mess, the Colts wisely signed Phillip Rivers, a QB who has already fallen off a cliff, making it impossible for him to be a sleeper agent.
Still, Rivers has to be better than Jacoby Brissett, and T.Y. Hilton has to be better than “injured pretty much all of the times,” so fans and pundits are making the huge mistake of allowing themselves to be optimistic. And how come nobody’s talking about the fact that Hilton refers to his quarterback as, “Phil?” Oh, also, Hilton has been a dependable WR2 under a capable QB, so he might have one of the highest floors of any WR. But, seriously, “Phil?” “Oh, yeah, my man Ephraim, I call him “Eph” is gonna put us into the 21st century!”

T.Y. Hilton is the perfect example of why you should wait until the fifth round or later (or less than 50% of predicted auction value) to see who falls to you. You don’t want to spend too much capital reaching for a guy that, at best, is gonna give you WR15 numbers. Also, Hilton’s 30 years old and Phillip “Phil” Rivers is 969 years old: They’re not making many “fantasy football breakout” lists. Just chill.
Best Case Scenario:
Hilton becomes a decent every week play and finishes #14 among wide receivers, which is literally his best finish in the last 3 years. That’s right, even with the deceased Andrew Luck throwing him the ball my dude hasn’t been able to crack the top-twelve. Also, stop calling him “my dude!”
Worst Case Scenario:
Hilton becomes a decent every week play and finishes #14 among wide receivers and you spent a fourth-round pick on him or more than $8 when you could’ve just waited and grabbed a decent tight end or a fallen RB2 like David Johnson or CEH or someone who has a remote chance of breaking out. Stop it. Stop reaching for middle-of-the-pack wide receivers, it’s super sad.
